Haskaps are sweet and tart berries full of antioxidants

If you've never heard of haskap berries, you're not alone.

Also known as honeyberries, haskaps are one of Canada's newest superfruits. Grown right here in Alberta, these deep purple berries combine the sweetness of blueberries with the bright flavour notes of blackberries and raspberries.

At Rosy Farms, just outside Edmonton, we grow organic haskap berries using regenerative farming practices to produce healthy fruit and healthy soil.

How Do HaskapS Compare to Acai or Blueberries?

Many people discover haskap berries because they're searching for familiar berries like blueberries or acai berries.

While blueberries have long been known for their antioxidant content and acai has become famous as a superfood, haskap berries are quickly earning a reputation as one of North America's most exciting berries.

HASKAP, A SUPER BERRY?

Haskaps are known as a "super berry" because of their naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamin C and fibre.

These hardy berries thrive in Alberta's climate and are among the first fruits to ripen each summer, making them a truly local prairie crop.

At Rosy Farms, we believe food should be good for people and good for the land. That's why our berries are grown using organic and regenerative farming practices.

Are HASKAP BERRIES healthy?

The answer is a firm YES! They have three times the antioxidants, five times the anti-inflammatory properties and four times the anthocyanins compared to a high bush blueberry, the past nutrient champion.

Why Anthocyanins?

Recently hitting the headlines, and linked to various health benefits, anthocyanin, a type of antioxidant, is found in all brightly coloured fruit and vegetables. These beneficial plant pigments, which give fruit and veg their deep red, purple or blue hues, now have research linking anthocyanins to various health claims, including increased longevity, cardiovascular health, and dementia and cancer prevention.

Anthocyanins are anti-cancer, anti-microbial, cardioprotective and anti-diabetic.
